A timid girl tames a wolf pack. Bridget is a very careful child. She never climbs on roofs or pets dogs or jumps over ditches. In fact, she's afraid of most things. But when Bridget gets lost and meets up with a pack of gray wolves in the deep, dark woods, she takes charge. First she makes them play even though they prefer to "lurk behind trees and snarl." I could see where they were going with this story: shy cautious unadventurous girl; shy cautious unadventurous girl inadvertently has adventure with gray wolves that talk and play with her; shy cautious unadventurous girl breaks out of her shell because of her experience. But maybe I was too bogged down by the language and lost sight... Hannah's favorite book, and yes, I read the translated version. I've read it so many times that I could recite the darn thing to you.
