Wishing I had known more about Known Space before picking up Ringworld, but enjoying going back and catching up with these short stories. Some of the great short fiction from Niven's "Known Space" universe - just enough hard science to make you believe this could all happen one day, and more than enough engaging writing to make this a book I read again and again. This was somewhat disappointing to me; since the quality of stories vacillated greatly from engrossing to pedestrian rather too frequently for my liking. I found the last story in the collection to be especially vapid, probably while I am compelled to low-ball this collection. For much of the time I wanted to read something by Sturgeon...
