There were mixed reviews of this book in my course. Many found Thelin difficult to read and rambling. Several accused him of contradicting himself and not having a clear presentation.I will say that Thelin is a dense read. It's history and it's a lot of foundation and university presidents' names. His sections within each chapter do... Pretty dry, but historically very informative An interesting, readable account of the subject that apparently required no primary source research of any sort. If one can get tenure by writing something like this, I most assuredly will do likewise.
